Sep 23, 2020 · The 93 octane versions feel much more aggressive with their power delivery. Peak numbers may not be very different, but the space under the graph feels very different. This is of course a butt dyno result with a year of separation between the vehicles tested, so take that with some sodium chloride. At our pumps we have 87, 89 with ethanol blend and 91 octane gasoline to choose from. I did a search but didn't come up with the answer I am looking for. Currently I run the 87 octane gas, I have no problems other that it is 10 cents a gallon more that the ethanol blend 89 octane. Is it OK to run the ethanol blend gas in my Tundra? E85. Since the advent of E85 in the early 2000s, people have been using it as go-fast juice due to its intrinsic knock resistance and cooling properties. Basically, E85 is cheap race gas. Many say it is equivalent to 105-110 octane, meaning it has much higher knock-resistant properties than pump gas and is usually substantially cheaper.
Pretty much all the gasoline sold around here has ethanol in it. The Jeep is tuned for 87 octane so we put 87 octane in it. No reason to waste money putting higher octane gas in it. If you live somewhere you can get non-ethanol gasoline for roughly the same money as ethanol gas I would certainly go that route. The E85 offers more power, even before we get into the added ability... That being said, I would recommend 1/2 can of BOOSTane Premium per full tank of 93 octane fuel. This will bring your octane up to at least a 96 while also delivering added lubricity and fuel stabilization against phase separation due to ethanol. That's what I miss about Iowa. Only the 89 octane had ethanol (15%). The 87, 91, and 93 were ethanol free and gave much better gas mileage. The 89 is always cheaper though. I'm not a big fan of burning food to fuel our cars while people in the world starve.

I have found that a mix of good 87-octane fuel and acetone or methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), plus ethanol in a ratio of 13/2/85 produces good results. You may be asking yourself if using 93-octane would be better in your home brew.
